“I’ve been training with Sam for a little over a year and am really delighted with what I can do now compared with when I started. I have trained with lots of PTs over the years and I really love Sam’s approach. We do a mixture of mobility and strength work which makes sure that your body is moving in an optimal way to lift weights. I love that every week we do new things I have never done before so it’s always a surprise what the session will look like which keeps it interesting and also ensures that there is progression. I have hyper mobility in a number of my joints and was also recovering from a frozen shoulder when I started which made some movements painful. Sam always found a way to adapt the exercise so that I could manage it and now my joints are more stable and less painful. Other than that Sam is a lovely and interesting lady so there is plenty of good conversation and encouragement.”

“All levels catered for, very friendly, Sam explains everything brilliantly.

“Fully recommend Sam. If you think you might be too old/heavy/unfit – Sam will sort you out. No need to be embarrassed or shy. One to one training in privacy”

“I was given 6 sessions with Sam as an 83rd birthday present to help rehabilitate me after a broken hip and I derived so much benefit that I’m carrying on with the sessions. Her sessions are interesting and varied and she pushes me to the limit but never beyond it. She is friendly and kind and packs a lot in. I look forward to more sessions and thoroughly recommend Sam.”

“My wife and myself visit Sam once a week for yoga and once a week for strength training. In short, she’s fantastic – very knowledgeable and attentive – we cannot recommend her highly enough”

Sam’s brilliant. She’s helped me significantly with mobility issues and encouraged me to gain strength to minimise any future potential problems. I would highly recommend her services.”

“Sam is a brilliant personal trainer. She’s been exceptional in delivering what I specifically needed to help with mobility issues and encouraging me to build strength to help reduce potential problems in the future. If you’re thinking a personal trainer is not for you, I’d encourage you to think again. Sam’s made all the difference.”

“I’ve known Sam for many years and consider her a friend as well as an amazing fitness instructor. She’s a very knowledgeable pilates and yoga instructor and an incredible personal trainer. She targets my sessions to work on the areas I need to strengthen (all of me!) am I’m amazed at what she can get my old body to do! I’ve been suffering with piriformis syndrome for a couple of years but since going to Sam’s home gym I no longer suffer the pain of ps and the accompanying sciatica. So if you’re a mature lady and think personal training is just for men and young people, give Sam a try. It’s so important the older we get to keep our muscle mass and bone health so we can enjoy an active life as we age gracefully.”

“I started training with Sam about 6 months ago, after having come across her details quite by accident, on the internet.  I was looking for someone local to help me improve my overall fitness, although I had a persistent old knee injury and general stiffness, built up from a stressful desk job, which held me back.

Sam was excellent right from the start and very quickly identified what I needed to do to improve my flexibility and strength.  It had been a number of years since I had exercised with any regularity and Sam was very quick to teach me deep stretching and mobility exercises which both increased flexibility and reduced stiffness.  Sam also introduced some weight training to build up my strength.

Sam is also very agile in breaking down an exercise into its component parts, to enable someone with limited mobility to be able to achieve the entry level movement and then progress to the next component part.  I’ve found this to be invaluable in helping me to understand what my body can do, even when my mind thinks I can’t.

Sam also incorporates both dietary advice and mindfulness into her sessions, which I’ve also found to be very useful.

My persistent old knee injury is now greatly improved, as is my strength and flexibility.  I feel so much better.  I would without hesitation, recommend Sam to anyone thinking about improving their fitness level.  She’s been entirely supportive and taken great care in planning individualised training sessions, designed entirely around what I need, which you just don’t get when you join a gym or exercise class.”

“The best medical advice that I have been given in recent times was given to me by my Parkinson’s consultant who advised me that the best medicine for Parkinson was exercise.

I looked for a practitioner who could provide guidelines on the best approach to exercise when living with Parkinson’s. I hit lucky, finding Sam Kelly who has worked with me for the last 5 months devising a bespoke programme of exercise designed to increase muscle strength, mobility and reduce the possibility of a fall.

On a one to one basis she takes me through an exercise session which I can then follow through at home. For me, this approach to exercise works and is making a difference to my quality of life. It could do the same for you!”

I approached Sam a few months ago, I was wanting help with strength exercises and resistance training. I have been suffering from sciatic for a while. Sam has been brilliant tailoring the sessions to meet my needs, she has a vast knowledge of which exercises or equipment will work best on a particular part of the body, to help elevate my symptoms. She is always friendly, professional and encouraging. My sciatic really has improved since going to Sam. I am continuing to see her regularly, because I feel better!!”

“Started pilates with Sam late in life at 64! Never thought I would be able to do it let alone enjoy it. How wrong I was with Sam’s cheerful demeanour and great instructions, giving people options on all the moves to suit each individual capabilities I have improved my balance and flexibility. Something we would all consider simple like getting up off the floor was a task for me, i had to use my hands to push myself up not now it’s no hands for me! Thank you Sam.

😁

You are brilliant”

“I have been suffering with a slipped disc for a couple of years. Having followed all the info I was given which included pain killers, physio, rest, stretching and gentle exercise it did improve for a period of time but kept returning. I’d heard that Yoga and Pilates could help so I contacted Sam for advice. Having listened to what I had to say about my back she explained that Pilates would be the option for me and so I booked up to do a weekly class. Not knowing exactly what to expect I had an open mind and went with the flow. I’ve been going for 3 months now each Wednesday and noticed a considerable improvement. My core strength, flexibility and whole body feels so much better. Not only has my back pain reduced, when it’s at its worst it doesn’t last as long and I take far fewer pain relief tablets. Great ! I know it’s important to ensure sufficient time is given for what I am being educated to do takes effect. It’s certainly not a simple fix therefore longevity and commitment are essential. Just going to a couple of classes would not fix me, who knows how long it will take, but what I do know is that it’s most certainly improving through Sam’s Pilates class. No matter what your age, physical condition or fitness Pilates is absolutely for everyone. What about Sam though. Well she’s an excellent instructor, pays particular attention to each individuals ability by providing a number of alternative options. She makes the classes accessible and enjoyable to all. Oh and she has a wicked sense of humour. It’s not just for fixing backs, I’ve also found out how to relax properly, something I have always struggled with. I’m so pleased I decided to go and will continue to do so. I wish I’d started years ago, give it a go, you might like it like I do. I highly recommend it”

“Sam is interested in and very knowledgeable about the neurophysiological dimensions of what is going on/going wrong. On top of all this, Sam is funny and warm – you will leave feeling you are doing something good for you and your body”

“Sessions have an integrated feel – the weight/resistance training is balanced with Yoga and Pilates”

“She has tailored my work outs to the areas I want to improve on, taking into account my medical history and my age”

“Sam is a truly personal trainer – in a matter of weeks she has worked out the sources of various bodily aches and weaknesses of mine and has developed a flexible and achievable way to start correcting them”

“Working with her on a one to one basis and not being in a gym setting has increased my confidence and I’m becoming stronger and more confident with what I can do after each session”

“Sam has really made a difference to both my physical and mental well-being over the past few weeks”

I love your classes. I have found since I started only a few weeks ago that my plantar fasciitis is 95% better. An unexpected benefit. Thank you!
